Jeter to miss KC series

As expected, Derek Jeter will not play in the three-game series against the Royals, according to Ed Price.

Joe Girardi is hopeful that Jeter will be ready for the weekend series at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox. Girardi also hasn't ruled out using Alex Rodriguez at shortstop, but Wilson Betemit is this afternoon's shortstop and Girardi even admitted that it hasn't been discussed yet.

It's very early in the season, so it's understandable why the Yankees don't want to push things with Jeter.
